The Fish Creek Kite Company (also known as Door County Kites) has been selling kites since 1977 and is located on the north end of Fish Creek, Wisconsin, just north of the YMCA.

One nice spring day a friend said she had never flown a kite. So we went to a drug store and bought a 59 cent kite which we flew that day. The next day I went to the library and got several kite books.  That was 35 years ago. Now kites have completely and thoroughly taken over my life  --  Very pleasantly.

My first shop was adjacent to an amusement park next to a 40 acre golf range. So I had plenty of space to fly anything. I always had 1 to 5 kites in the air any time the wind cooperated and I started the business by sending $300 to the Airplane Kite Company in Roswell, NM in 1977.

My first American Kitefliers Assocation annual Convention was in Manassas, VA in 1979, and I became a life member shortly thereafter.

I was very fortunate to get to go to Japan with David Checkley. We visited many traditional kite makers. On the same trip, we attended the 411th Annual Kite battle in Hammamatsu which drew 1.5 million people over 3 days. This trip inspired me to build many block printed, hand painted, rice paper kites. I later taught myself to sew with rip-stop nylon and made many more modern kites.

With this experience behind us, we are always looking for something new - fun and good value for the money.

Our return policy is anything the customer wants - return for refund, exchange, whatever, we stand behind everything we sell even if the manufacturer doesn't.

We sponsor "Kites Over the Bay." A good ol' fun fly in February, on the ice in Fish Creek Harbor on the bay of Green Bay. There are invited fliers with giant kites, art kites, kids will make kites at the YMCA, Team Stunt Kite demonstrations and more. Just for fun!!!
